There is an on-going ‘revolution’ in the business of printing. Along with computer to plate technology we now have new ‘intelligent’ software to offer even more precision in prepress. Colour proofing is now more sophisticated and accurate. Advances in technology allow the transfer of precise prepress data direct to printing press providing increased quality control and even faster job turnaround.

How do we successfully ride the technology wave? The ‘trick’ is to plan well and invest in the right range and combination of equipment – to offer the optimum ‘mix’ of cost efficient solutions for New Zealand clients, where the size of the market dictates that, by international standards, relatively short runs are the norm.

Planning and ‘staging’ the introduction of exciting and leading edge technology is a very important and on-going requirement for the Nicholson management team. In our 30,000 square foot West Auckland premises we are continually adding state-of-the-art printing machinery which we source from all around the world.

Having the technology is one thing. Optimising its performance is vital. Nicholson are committed to rigorous in-house training programmes for all staff. Frequently, technical people from our international machinery suppliers are involved in this on site training.
